Men’s Health Month
June is Men’s Health Awareness Month, a reminder for the fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and friends in our lives to prioritize their health. Men are significantly less likely than women to seek preventive care, with only 60% attending annual checkups and many waiting until symptoms become serious.
Why men’s health matters
- Life expectancy: men live an average of 74.8 years, compared to 80.2 years for women.
- Heart disease: the leading cause of death in men. More than 50% of men have high blood pressure.
- Cancer: over 700,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed in men annually. Prostate cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting men.
- Mental health: men account for nearly 80% of suicide deaths. Up to 31% experience depression, yet many never seek support due to stigma.
Preventive care
More than half of men do not receive regular health screenings. Over 60% of men are overweight or obese, increasing the risk of chronic disease.
How you can take action
- Schedule your annual wellness visit
- Review recommended screenings, including prostate and colon cancer screenings
- Monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels
- Prioritize mental health and seek support when needed
At Kallos, we believe men deserve comprehensive care that supports how they feel, function, and age. We combine conventional, integrative, and aesthetic medicine to help you achieve your healthiest self. Schedule your visit today and take the first step toward better health.
With gratitude,
